Lyrics

This Who I Am

There once was a boy, who planted a tree,
It was 9 inches high, and barely to his knee.
He didn’t have a clue of what he should do,
To help the tree grow sturdy and strong.

His father said my child, your work has just begun.
You need to trim the branches, and help it find the sun.
Give it food and water, and nurture it each day,
And eventually your work will be repaid.

(Chorus)
Cause you are leading it on, leading it on.
And opening your heart for all to see.
You are telling the world, this is who I am,
Listen everybody, this is me!

There’s a circle around, wherever you are,
And the people inside, are the ones who confide.
They watch what you do, and hear what you say.
Oh, someone is listening today.

Your tongue is like a ruder, on a sea-faring ship,
And the words that you speak, are part of the trip,
That carries you away to a far away land,
Do the people in your circle understand?

(Chorus)
That you are leading them on, leading them on.
And opening your heart for all to see.
You are telling the world, this is who I am,
Listen everybody, this is me!

That you are leading them on, leading them on.
And opening your heart for all to see.
You are telling the world, this is who I am,
Listen everybody, this is me!
