Music about Life
I started playing guitar and writing songs in the seventh grade and became intrigued with the writing and recording process early on. I love poetry, especially if it can tie the imaginary with reality. In the early years I followed the popular route of writing songs about love, heartache and loss.
While living in Carmel, California (at 17 years-of-age), I had a life-changing experience where I felt the call to take a different road. From that day forward my music took on a singer/songwriter style that focused on story-telling. I can still sing the blues, because even those who journey toward a better place experience times of despair and grief. But it's a different kind of grief—one that fades and is eventually replaced with hope and healing!
Through the years I've worked with people in ministry settings. Some of my efforts involved working directly with people, while others were directed toward creating books, events and resources that were designed to help people grow spiritually.
My joy comes from seeing people find relief from the trauma that life throws at them. I'm currently writing a memoir titled, "Beyond," which traces my growing up years in Florida, Tennessee, and Michigan, before ending up in California.
We are all just passing through our present reality to a destiny of choice. No one's going to arrive at a destination they didn't choose. You can read more about this in my Blog and collection of essays.
Life it too short for hate and division. If you want to make a difference, be ready to swim against the flow and spread kindness wherever you go. In the end I would rather be hated for what I love, than loved for what I hate.
