On the porch life loses its brittle edge. Politics is neutered and people become humane. Among the potted flowers there is healing. From the nearby trees, sparrows tweet what many smart phone addicts will never hear.

Porches forge civility and pause, which enables us to listen and learn. We go there to cogitate and reflect.
